NORTH SIOUX CITY, SD, June 23, 1997 - Gateway 2000, Inc. (NYSE: GTW), a leading direct marketer of PCs, recently took home awards from two industry-leading publications, PC World and Windows Sources. The honors mark the latest additions to a rapidly growing list of awards Gateway's products and support have received this year.

The PC World contest is highly regarded among high technology magazine award programs, using an unbiased expert panel to identify the best products available in 84 categories of hardware, software, Internet, and service & support.

"The World Class Award is an endorsement of a product by the people who use it," declared PC World Publisher, J. Samuel Huey. "Our readers, managers who use and buy PC products for business, respect the PC World World Class Award logo and use it to help decide which products to buy."

In the 1997 Windows Sources Experts' Choice Awards competition, Gateway 2000 won the award for its G6-266M in the Home Desktop System category. The Experts' Choice Awards honor products that are the most innovative, technologically sound, productivity-enhancing offerings in the 32-bit Windows environment.
